The Climb

First Place - Centre Gallery - Juried Show

In September 2010, I won “Best Historical Representation Style” at Centre Gallery in Tampa Florida.

The judges at this juried show considered my painting technique similar to Vincent Van Gogh. What a great compliment. It was my brush handling and impasto style they took interest in, and not a representation of a post impressionist technique.

What a great experience.

The Climb

The Climb

This painting was inspired by capturing three images in one - the viewer, the climber, and off in the distance the lagoon.

I wanted to play with painting the impression of distant trees and mountains captured from being a voyeurism actor that looks into a cave in the distance at a climber that looks off in the distance at the horizon.  The classical perspective of looking at a frame that looks at a frame that looks at a frame.
